The flagship model of the Japanese company Toyota is the Innova, which was released here in. It is an MPV built to international quality standards, but at the same time is well suited to Indian conditions. Innova comes with a powerful 2.5-litre common rail turbo-diesel engine which is capable of producing 100 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. The petrol engine is a 2-litre unit that produces 130 bhp of maximum power. The engines are matched to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox. The newly designed rear 4-link suspension enhances riding comfort on rough and bumpy roads. Innova mileage is 14 kilometres per litre on average. Although it is a big vehicle, the Innova is quite an easy-to-drive vehicle. Handling and drivability are decent and the car remains quite stable under all driving conditions.
The Innova is wide and tall which makes it spacious inside and rich with features. It has a decent ground clearance of 176 mm. The seven-seater vehicle has a 3-row configuration of seats inside. The well-cushioned leather seats offer ample leg and head space even in the last row. The two-tone dash with a matt finish on top, wooden inserts on the sides of the central console and good quality switches and colour-synchronised door trims impart a luxurious look to the cabin.
Innova is equipped with a horde of safety and comfort features like dual-zone air conditioning, small storage spaces, power steering, power windows, Load Sensing Proportion Valve, Anti-lock Braking System, dual front airbags, side door impact beams, 3-point seatbelts for every row, child protector locks, theft deterrent system, audio system with Bluetooth and DVD compatibility, steering mounted controls, reverse camera etc.
Innova offers good rides and performance and is equipped with high-end safety and comfort features. There are more than 20 variants of the car including EV, G, GX, VX, ZX and the latest LE with prices ranging between Rs 12-15 lakhs. Innova is a good option for joint families and also for commercial usage. However, people buying this car should keep in mind that its huge size may not fit in everyone’s parking lot and it is quite difficult to manoeuvre in crowded cities. But for those who want a tough vehicle for rough terrain and one that has plenty of interior space, this vehicle is going to be an ideal choice.
